About Oaklume

Quietly raising the standard of UK care.

We started Oaklume because the family we cared for deserved better than what we found. That is still the only test we apply.

Our story

A care company built from inside a family.

When our founder's mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2013, the family interviewed eleven care agencies. None felt right. So a nurse, a son and a few quietly furious neighbours built one.

Today, Oaklume Care looks after several hundred families across the South of England, with regional teams in London, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire. We are still owned and run by the people who founded it.

We grew slowly on purpose. We turned down national contracts that would have stretched our standards. We pay carers above the Real Living Wage, train them for sixty hours before their first shift, and review every plan every ninety days.

The work is hard. The standard is not.

Founded

London, 2013

Three founders, one cared-for parent, and a stubborn belief that this could be done properly.

What we stand for

Six values, not six slogans.

Every hire, plan and difficult conversation gets measured against these. If something fails the test, we change the something — not the value.

Compassion

Care is a relationship. We hire people who would treat your parent the way they'd want their own to be treated.

Safety

Robust safeguarding, clinical governance, and a culture where speaking up is rewarded — never punished.

Dignity

We work to the rhythm of the person in front of us. Their home. Their pace. Their preferences.

Calm

We say no to chaos. Smaller caseloads, longer visits, and the time to do things properly.

Community

We are local first. Carers who live nearby. Managers who know the GP surgery by name.

Craft

Care is a skilled profession. We invest in training, reflection and time — because it shows.

We built Oaklume because the family we cared for deserved better than what we found. Every plan, every shift, every difficult conversation gets measured against one question — is this what we would want for our own mother? If the answer is no, the plan changes. Not the question.
